Grant by Edmund fitz Randolphe of Aylesford in the county of Kent, esquire, to Sir John Henden of Biddenden, knight, and Thomas Brickenden of London, gentleman, for the sum of £100 of the rectory and church, etc., of Burgham in the county of Kent, parcel of the possessions of the late priory and hospital of St. John's in Jerusalem in England, with its appurtenances in Burgham or elsewhere, with the advowson of the vicarage of the said parish church, which were granted to Thomas Emerson, esqure, by letters patent dated 18 September 4 James I; the said Thomas Emerson, by indenture dated 28 January 4 James I then conveying the premises to Edmund Randolphe, esq., deceased, father of the grantor and to Margaret his wife, from whom they descended to the grantor and his son and heir. A lease of the premises to Robert Morgan of London, scrivener, deceased, for 99 years from the feast of SS Philip and James, 20 James I, at a peppercorn rent, is still in being.
